The Kollock letters, 1799-1954.

This collection consists of one volume in which are bound "The Kollock Letters, 1799-1850," which were a series of articles originally published in eight parts in the Georgia Historical Quarterly [Part 1 appeared in Vol. 30 (3) Sept. 1946, Part 2 in Vol. 30 (4) Dec. 1946, Part 3 in Vol. 31 (1) March 1947, Part 4 in Vol. 31 (2) June 1947, Part 5 in Vol. 31 (3) Sept. 1947, Part 6 in Vol. 31 (4) Dec. 1947, Part 7 in Vol. 32 (1) March 1948, and Part 8 in Vol. 32 (2) June 1948]. (Cont.) These letters were edited for publication by Edith Johnston Duncan and this was her volume. She had all the individual articles bound. She then added to the original published articles with handwritten notes, corrections, personal reminiscences, and other information. She pasted in some newspaper clippings, a letter, and photographs of members of the Kollock, Waring, and related families. At the end of the volume there is a section on Woodlands and Blythewood, both of which are in Habersham County, Georgia near Clarkesville. Woodlands was the home of the George Jones Kollock family, who moved there in 1850. Blythewood was originally the home of Mary Helen Johnston and was built in 1853.
